PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Welcome to the 65th year of summer swimming with the BC Summer Swimming Association! As your new President, I am thrilled to be leading this fantastic organization.

For those who don’t know me yet, I have been on the Board as the Fraser Valley Regional Director for several years, then served as Vice President for the Province. My daughters swam with the Haney Neptunes Aquatic Club, and I was on the Haney Neptunes Board in various positions, including Equipment Manager, Director of Officials, VP, and President. I hold my Dark Blue pin for officiating and enjoy Starting and Reffing, as well as just being on deck working with all the amazing officials in the Fraser Valley and across the Province.

I am honoured to be working with such a dedicated and talented group of people on our Provincial Board. We have been working hard to make this year a success leading up to the Provincial meet in Nanaimo. I am happy to report that registrations are up, and all our clubs seem to have survived the Covid years. This is great news, and I look forward to seeing all of our swimmers back in the pool this summer!

Let’s make this a fantastic summer of swimming! Thank you for your ongoing support of the BC Summer Swimming Association.

See you the Pool Deck!

Jim Baxter
BCSSA President

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Hello everyone and welcome to our 2023 Competitive Season! We are all looking forward to a great summer of swimming, racing and fun for all.

Last summer was our first one back after the Covid-19 restrictions, and most clubs were able to have a relatively “normal” summer season. Our non-competitive season numbers looked great this year too, so we are hoping that it is full-steam ahead for all clubs for 2023.

On a personal note, coming from the VI Region, I am thrilled to have Provincials back on the Island for the first time since 2015. The City of Nanaimo is ready and waiting to host the rest of the Province, and I am really looking forward to getting to see the Artistic Swimming, Diving and Water Polo competitions for the first time.

Here’s wishing you all a summer filled with excitement, fun and connecting with friends, old and new!

Sheila Coogan
BCSSA Vice-President
